I have been on Sporanox for quite some time as I have been slow to
respond---had taken it previously also. But I have been able to reduce
it significantly without a return of symptoms. How high of a dose are
you on??? I started on 400 mg. a day. Jean

My CDSA/Parasitology results

2008-12-04 23:46:56

Hi All,
I just received my cdsa results from great smokies. I have Candida
albicans 2+, candida krusei 2+, and Cryptococcus neaformans 4+. My
doctor just put me on Sporanox to get rid of these bad bugs. They
showed resistance to nystatin and i've never taken that or any other
prescription antifungals ever. I was on antibiotics for over a year
for acne.
Does anyone know how long I should take the Sporonax?? Does it
usually take several months to clear these fungal infections? I'm on
a strict diet and taking Primal Defense as well as another good
probiotic and other supplements as well.
Thanks Jonathan

Greeting to group: experiences from 6+ years of candidia(LONG post)

2008-12-04 14:48:50

Hello All!!!
Seven years ago I found the tell-tale bulls-eye rash of Lyme's
diesease, and from that point onward, my life has been forever
changed. After months of various treatment protocalls, both natural
and pharmeceutical, I found myself on intra-venous anti-biotics, an
hour and a half per day, everyday for 6 weeks. This after months of
oral anti-biotics. The good news is that this got rid of the Lyme's
diesease, which is a whole other story.(If you are or know of someone
suffring from this, e-mail me and I'll do what I can data wise...I
know a lot about it now!)
Of course, as anyone who is reading this already knows, my Lyme
diesease was swapped for severe systemic candidiasis. I got it BAD!!!
Joints, ears, sinuses, teeth, behind my eyeballs...no joke, it's
everywhere. I want to share my experiences with all of you who are
suffering out there, so that some good may come out of all of this.
There is so much conflicting data out there, that it can just seem so
overwhelming. It is my hope that by sharing my experiences, I can
help give some of you hope and point you towards the answers you
seek. Again, all of this is my own experience. Everyone's situation
is unique, and what did or did not work for me may work for someone
else. Disclaimer aside, here' my take on it all.
Pharmaceuticals: I've been on Nystatin, Nizoral, and Diflucan.
Of these, Diflucan is by far the most effective. I was taking 200
strength Diflucan (one per day), for periods of up to one month. The
stuff is really strong. If your infection is not severe, or you have
just about gotten the yeast under control, this may be your ticket.
The downsides:
cost: these babies run about 15$ each.(*7*30=$$$)
toxicity:no joke about it, these pills are HARD on the liver. After
30 days, I had to quit taking them becase they were hurting my liver
die-off:YIKES! the first couple of days on these, be prepared to stay
in bed. I'm not kidding, these things will floor you
The bad news is that if you have systemic candidiasis, these probably
won't get rid of the infection. They can be useful for bringing the
yeast to more manageable levels, but don't expect them to cure you.
Overall, I think there are better approaches to candida management
than pharmaceuticals, but for some, they might just be the ticket.
Naturals:
Ah, the ambiguous and uncertain maze of natural products. What
works? What doesn't?...It can be really hard to find reliable data
regarding which natural products work and which don't. The following
is my experience concerning these.
If it's out there, I've tried it. I'll give you the short
version here. Out of all the natural products I've tried, a few stand
out. In terms of bundled packages, solaray's yeast cleanse is my
favorite. It is a combination of caprylic acid, GSE, tea tree, and
some other stuff. I take up to 12 a day when I am on these. My
general impression of most of these natural approaches is that they
work great for awhile, then the yeast
becomes resistant, and then they don't seem to work as well. If
you're doing over-the-counter remedies, switch around as one stops
becoming effective. Another decent one is candex. I was on it for
about 2 months, helped for awhile, but lost its efficacy... a common
story. Pau D'arco is your friend. Drink it all the time! Again, most
of these treatments don't seem to really get rid of it totally, only
seem to keep it a a reasonable level(I'll get into diet next!)
Probiotics are a must, must, must!! Did I mention That you MUST be
doing Probiotics?? Seriously though, I hope you're getting the
point. If you're not gobbling(literally) probiotics while doing ANY
protocall, you're wasting you're time and money. Balancing your gut
is key to your freedom. My personnal favorite is Primal Defense. The
stuff rocks!!Get it! Don't bother with anything else. Order some as
soon as you've finished reading this. I take about 20 of these a day,
and my body loves it. For many of you out there, this and some otc
formulas should do the trick. If you're systemic, don't hold your
breath. All of this will help keep the yeast under control, but the
instant you get off your diet, BAM, you'll get whacked. You may do
alright for about a week, but don't say I didn't tell you so if your
symptoms come back.
So what's the best combo out there?? I think the most effective
natural solution is hydrogen peroxide. I use 35% food grade, and this
is the only natural approach that the yeast doesn't seem to be able
to build a resistance to. I take 25 drops 2-3 times a day in a large
glass of water. You HAVE to do this on an empty stomach, at least an
hour before eating. The stuff is NASTY!(yeucchhh!) but it works well.
I put some in a tincture bottle, and then drop it into water. I gulp
it down, don't breathe through my nose, and then immediately brush my
teeth and tongue. This seems to cancel out the nasty aftertaste. Be
forewarned-do NOT start at this level...you will regret it. This
stuff is STRONG. Gradually build up to this dosage, but do try to
reach this amount. I've found that anything less just doesn't cut it.
Also, in its raw form, it is highly caustic. It will burn you skin if
contacted, so don't get it on you and for God's sake keep it away
from children. When you first start taking it, it will feel like its
burning in your stomach. Don't sweat it, its just die-off and will
get better. If it's too uncomfortable, back off the dosage. Make sure
you keep taking it though. Hydrogen peroxide and Primal Defense and
pau d'arco are all I really do now, and if I keep my diet strict, I
feel great. Problem is, my diet is extreme whack, and the moment I
get off it, I start to react.
The diet: for most of you, H2O2, primal defense, and a standard
candida diet will accomplish wonders, but if you're systemic, forget
it! I eat almost NO CARBS! PERIOD! Whine, cry, bitch, it won't do any
good, sooner or later you'll have to ask yourself, what's more
important, carbs, or feeling good? I was vegetarian before all of
this started. Now I eat meat. Call it necessity. Give thanks to the
spirit of the animal, and to the great spirit for providing food that
you can eat, and see if you don't feel better. If not, that's fine.
Just don't close a door without checking it out. I eat protein and
veggies. That's pretty much it. I'll eat occasional carbs, but if I
eat too much, I don't feel clear. Lots of salads and steamed greens.
Eggs are good too. Tofu will sit well with many of you, some may
react. Always listen to your own body and what makes you feel well.
And I eat avocados. They give me a sense of fullness that I just
don't get with plain veggies. I would reccomend a good digestive
enzyme and a good multi-vitamin to anyone on a candida diet. Also Vit
C, calcium citrate with magnesium, and EFA's are also great! Whatever
protocall you choose to follow, a strict diet for the first month or
two will really help you out. It sucks, but there are people who are
starving to DEATH all around the world, so be thankful that you have
ANY food to eat. Remind yourself of that frequently, it will help.
Liver support is important, especially if you start eating a lot
of heavy protein. Milk Thistle rocks, just make sure you get a good
brand that is standardized. Also, sweetish bitters can really help(I
Like gaia herbs...my fav for herbs)Depressed??? St Johns Wort is
really useful here, again standardized. It may take a few weeks but
ah... feels good. Also affirmations and self-hypnosis tapes can
really help your attitude. Some adrenal and energy tonics can help
too. siberian ginseng, ashwaganda,...
So what's up with me???Well, if I stick to the diet, take my
probitics, herbs, and H2o2, I feel good. But if I get off my diet,
Bam, whacked again. Since H202 has been so effective, I've finally
saved up the money and in 1 month, am going to start intra-venous
H202 therapy. I have high hopes for this treatment, and really feel
that this will take care of the problem. I've done my part, and
cleared most of the infection, but some of it is so deep, I really
feel I need to go this extra mile. For most of you, I feel the advice
here and elsewhere should be sufficient for you to reclaim your life.
Try it out, make a serious commitment, and share your data with
others. Together we can find solutions to this plague and spread our
love and support around. As soon as I am through with this therapy,
I'll post my results here, so you can all definately know if it is
effective. Sorry about the length of this post, but I read a lot of
your questions and complaints, and hope that my own personnal
experience can help. Good Luck and try to stay optimistic. You are
neither crazy nor alone!
Peace,
Andrew

Oleda's Vita-Green Powder

2008-12-04 10:03:42

Hi..
I have just starting taking a product called SuperVita-Green Powder. I got it
from www.oleda.com
Forgive my ignorance but does candida make your body acidic or alkaline? This
product says that it's a super alkalizing formula and I just wanted to be sure
it's okay to take while on the candida diet? It says that it has no added sugar,
salt, yeast, starch, milk, preservatives, artificial flavors or colors so it
sounds ok but just wanted to be sure. BTW, has anyone else ever used this
product? And thanks to all of you who responded to my friend's thyroid question.
I'm going to forward responses to her. Thanks again!
Laurie :)

V-8 Juice

2008-12-04 08:24:20

I think someone posted the other day about whether V-8 juice was ok? Did anybody
answer that? I'm kicking around the idea of drinking it myself but not sure if
this was an option for a candida diet? Haven't had a chance to go to the store
yet and check labels. Thanks to anyone who can help out!

dad in hospital -- need advice

2008-12-03 12:08:53

I'll try to make this as short as possible and hope I don't leave out anything
important!
My dad has chronic breathing problems. A run-of-the-mill headcold can
degenerate into pneumonia rather quickly -- so the minute he gets a cold, they
hit him with antibiotics and steroids. :^( I don't necessarily agree with it,
but in light of his bouts with pneumonia, I can see why they are using the only
weapon they know as a pre-emptive strike.
Well, dad caught a cold last week. Within 36 hours of starting the "candida
cocktail", he had a roaring case of nausea and watery diarrhea. The pharmacist
was honest enough to tell them it could be from the drugs, and which drugs it
would be safe to skip a dose of while waiting to talk to the doctor.
The next day, the doctor took him off of the antibiotics, and started weaning
him off the steroids -- but the diarrhea never cleared up. Of course you know I
advised them to get probiotics... but dad is afraid to take one more pill "with
all the drugs I take". I emphasized how important it was to fill in that empty
space with something good before the bad guys had a chance to take over. I
tried telling him it was "yogurt in a pill"... he did stop arguing with me, but
it still didn't inspire him to go get some!
Dad also has a hernia from colon cancer surgery, and the site had gotten painful
since the diarrhea started. I wasn't as concerned about that, because I
remember how my guts hurt when I had all-out diarrhea like that -- but there is
this lingering possibility that his guts could get caught and strangled in the
hernia.
Well, the pain got so bad that at 4:00 this morning, Mom took him to the
hospital. Of course he was admitted. They gave him a CT scan, and said that
basically his entire intestinal tract is distended -- and asked him if he had
ever been diagnosed with diverticulitis.
Now if I remember correctly, "diverticulitis" is the default diagnosis one gets
from MDs when they haven't a f*g clue what is causing the problem. Do I also
remember hearing that probiotics can help diverticulitis? That would be good
and bad news -- a simple, drug-free treatment -- but I know he doesn't have a
snowball's chance in hell of getting them in the hospital -- and they will keep
him in there and keep making him worse with more "candida cocktail"!
Me? A bitter pessimist? NAAAAAAAAH
Dad has been through chemo, plus innumerable rounds of steroids for his
breathing, and multiple courses of antibiotics over the last 10+ years when
pneumonia became a regular visitor. Oh yeah, and he's a JUNK FOOD JUNKIE! It's
a wonder the man doesn't LOOK like a freakin mushroom!!
My folks are skeptical about what I say has happened to me, and are therefore
not terribly inclined to take my advice. They believe whatever *A Doctor* tells
them, and will not question it.
With that in mind... anybody have any ideas??
(besides bury my face in a pillow and scream)
Thanks all...

Personally I would just eat a lot of raw garlic.

I am sick today...

2008-12-02 23:35:57

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask an opinion. I am sick right now.
Obviously, I don't want to take antibiotics, but what would be a good
choice. Collodial silver??
I am coughing phlegm (sp) and sore throat, all over yuck!
